How did you get your start at NYSERDA?
I was a contractor for NYSERDA in the Clean School Bus Program and working with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program in Western New York. Through this association, I became familiar with the programs and staff at NYSERDA. When the opportunity presented itself to join NYSERDA, I decided to pursue it.
What are your primary work duties?
I am a Project Manager on the Economic Development team. I help build local partnerships with various project development stakeholders representing both the private and public sectors. I help build awareness about our programs and act as a liaison with these various groups on behalf of NYSERDA. I assist in the coordination of the Economic Development Growth Extension (EDGE) program, which provides a local, easily accessible NYSERDA contact for each of the ten Regional Economic Development Council regions across NYS. I am the NYSERDA representative in the Western New York, Central New York and North Country REDC regions.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy being out and about in the community and helping to connect people. It’s a lot of fun and I feel good about the community projects I can assist to move forward. I work on all types of initiatives and everyday is different.
Being a life-long learner, I also enjoy working with incredible people who have tremendous knowledge and help me learn something new every day. There’s a high level of professionalism and commitment at NYSERDA – it’s a wonderful culture and I’m very lucky to be part of it.
What are you most proud of professionally and personally?
Professionally, I’m proud of my educational achievements and that I continue to learn with each opportunity presented to me. I have used my education and skills to grow my career in ways I could not have foreseen. I enjoy the challenge of change and growth presented by working for NYSERDA.
Personally, I’m proud of my children and what they’ve been able to accomplish in life. I have a son in restaurant management and a daughter who is an interior designer for commercial buildings. Both are happy in their lives and that, in turn, makes me extremely happy and proud.
What is your most favorite place in the world?
I’ve had the privilege to travel extensively and my favorite place is New York City. It’s very exciting and you can pack more into a weekend there than anywhere else. If I could live there, I would.
