Sherri Calabrese is applying her previous experience working directly with families to her new position as assistant project manager at NYSERDA. Sherri’s experience and work ethic in her previous position as assistant weatherization director for the Weatherization Assistance Program was recognized in June when she received the Weatherization Program Service Award during the New York State Community Action Association and New York State Weatherization Directors Association Development Conference.
Sherri joined the EmPower New York team – which provides no-cost energy efficiency solutions to income-eligible New Yorkers – in February. Drawing from her experience working directly with low-income families to help guide them toward energy efficient measures, she said she now applies that experience on a much broader scale, considering the entire state and the impact rules may have upon applicants. She said her work spans the gamut from a pilot program to increase program participation to working with other energy conservation programs to increase collaboration.
“I’m definitely happy to stay focused on energy conservation,” Sherri said. “I think it’s a really important mission.”
